A WORD FROM PASTOR JASON:

JUNE 2010

Farewell Our Friends in Jesus Christ
Greetings from Jason, Heather, Emily, and baby soon-to-be! We continually pray for everyone at Kaneville UMC. It’s a season of tears, memories made, and new beginnings. It’s a time to say yes again to God’s grace and plan. It’s also a time of transition and change. Through it all, we must learn to trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who walks with us through every life situation. Jesus is reaching out His hand to carry us into the realm of the unknown.

As of July 1, 2010, I am being reassigned to Faith Evangelical UMC in Elmhurst, IL. This is the result of the Bishop Hee-Soo Jung and his cabinet of our Northern Illinois Conference, praying and deciding that I can best serve God in Christ by being the pastor of Faith Evangelical. As difficult as this news may be for us, sometimes things are out of our control, and sometimes we don’t always get what we want. It is not about us, but it is about making and growing disciples, testifying to God’s power and saving work, and preparing for an eternity with God. This earthly life happens in the blink of an eye when compared to spending forever with God. May we rely on the encouragement and hope of the Holy Scriptures from the New Testament passage from the book of Romans:

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. We know that all things work together for good those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:26-28)

Let us prepare to receive my successor with the grace and love of Jesus Christ, and with an openness to see what Christ has in store for Kaneville UMC.  Our Aurora District Superintendent Diana Facemyer has been in conversation with our pastor-parish committee to discuss future arrangements. Once an update is given by D.S. Diana, y’all will learn publicly who your new pastor will be.

With that being said, I will dearly miss each and every person of the Kaneville church family. Even with my short stint here, I have been able to connect with several of you in very special and meaningful ways; especially those participants of the Alpha Course, KUMC praise team, Vacation Bible School, funeral ministry (Kaneville is the best at this bar none!) worship dramas, mission trip to Paraguay, and small groups. Heather, Emily, and I have experienced your Christian warmth and hospitality, your boldness in caring for Emily, your teaching and wisdom, your kind words of affirmation and encouragement, and your openness to building relationships and to grow as Jesus’ disciples. Please pray for us too, while we prepare for our whirlwind move, expecting baby girl, and experience significant transition and adjustment.

As your pastor, I truly thank God from my heart, for the opportunity to serve God by leading the beautiful people of Kaneville UMC. It has been God’s pleasure and my privilege.

As ya’ll go forward as the body of Christ, let the Lord Jesus Christ be the head and lead you first, let Jesus be in control of the driver’s seat, let Jesus rule in your heart with peace, let Jesus be your reason for living and loving, and let your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ comfort, heal, and protect y’all for all that is to come! For this is where real security is found.

Please join our church family for my farewell worship service on SUNDAY, JUNE 27, at 9:30am.

Take good care of yourself and each other. You will be MISSED!

In His Grip,
Pastor Jason
