Where Newcomers are Never Strangers
MissionsOctober Mission of the MonthFor the month of October, KUMC's mission of the month will be collecting items for care packages to soldiers. Here is a list of the top ten items we will be collecting.
1) Canned Soup/Pasta (20oz or less)
2) Canned Fruit (20oz or less)
3) Granola Bars
4) Pringles (canisters)
5) Pop Tarts
6) Wipes (Unscented)
7) Foot Powder (20oz or less)
8) Shaving Cream (non aerosol)
9) Lotion for Men (16oz or less)
10) Mouthwash/Dental Rinse (20oz or less)
Used magazines and comics are appreciated by our troops. No Time or Newsweek magazines will be accepted and please donate only magazines six months old or less.
The Kaneland Area Food Pantry is open every Thursday evening between 6-7pm. Over the past year the numbers of families registering for assistance has increased to 40-45 families per week. They are in need of donations of all kinds, but especially:Flour Sugar Cooking Oil Coffee (Regular & Decaf) Shampoo Canned Fruit Canned Vegetables Dish Detergent Macaroni & Cheese Cereal Canned Pasta Cleaning Supplies Laundry Detergent Donations can be dropped in the red box in the fellowship area or taken directly to the Elburn and Countryside Community Center (ECCC) at 525 N. Main Street (Rt. 47). Call Laurie Studdard to arrange a drop off time (630/365-6655). Local missions include Wayside Cross of Aurora, Shalom Ministries, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Elburn Food Pantry, Crossroads Christian Youth Center, Rosecrance Center, Lazarus House in St Charles, Storehouse Ministries in Big Rock, and local families in need.
The Kaneville Community Child Center is sponsored by KUMC. KCCC provides daycare services for children from ages of 2 1/2 through 5th grade, including preschool, drop-in care, K-Club Kindergarten daycare, and after school care. Missions offerings may be marked "missions" and placed in the offering plate or placed in the missions pot located at the back entrance to the church.
